Apple Computer Inc is working on a portable version of the Macintosh System Software that will run on other microprocessors – specifically RISCs – as well as the 68000 family, John Sculley told the Software Publishers Association in San Francisco. He also said that the long-awaited System 7 version of the Macintosh operating system will ship in May, and Apple expects to ship 3m copies in the first year.
