The suit brought by the Beatles’ Apple Corps against Apple Computer Inc appears to have ended in an untidy mess, with a confidential settlement reached between the two, and each side paying its own costs, which are thought to total UKP7m; Apple had set aside a reserve of $29m and is believed to be paying about half of that over to Apple Corps; what is not clear is whether the settlement is full and final, or whether if Apple in future sticks its logo on some consumer product that includes music or the ability to play it, the litigious ageing pop performers or their acolytes will drag it back into the courts for yet another round.
