Apple Computer Inc’s Claris Corp software subsidiary shipped more software for Macintosh machines in 1993 than the traditional industry leader Microsoft Corp, according to a Dataquest Inc study: Claris shipped 2.1m copies of Macintosh software for an 18.4% share of the Mac market, and Microsoft shipped 1.92m for a 16.8% share, but its revenue, at $270m, was twice Claris’ $135m.
