APPLE STORE HAS $500,000 SALES ON FIRST DAY OF TRADING

Apple Computer Inc says its new Apple Store web site shop clocked up sales of $500,000 and 4.4 million hits in its first 12 hours on Tuesday. That’s impressive, but Dell Computer Corp already does $1bn in revenues over the net. There is also the matter of how much the web store will impact its traditional – albeit lower-margin – channels.
