Apple Computer Inc yesterday duly announced its plans to enable users to run Macintosh applications unmodified on Unix servers, workstations and X terminals as Apple Services for Open Systems, and showed Macintosh System 7 running on a PowerPC 601. Its first PowerPC machines will appear in first half 1994, and the Centris 610 and 650 computers, Mac IIvx and IIvi, Performa 600 and Quadra 800 systems will be field-upgradable to the new CPU.
