Apple Computer Inc late Monday put numbers on its proposed staff reductions, saying it is looking to eliminate more than 1,500 jobs, 10% of its workforce, partly by attrition and partly by lay-offs to be announced this quarter, which will lead to a charge against its third quarter figures. The overall consolidation and restructuring – the biggest in Apple’s history – is to take place over the next 12 months.
