The Apple Computer Inc Macintosh SE was the top-selling microcomputer in the US in July according to InfoCorp, which reckons that the Mac SE alone had 7% of the market, followed by AST Research’s Premium 286 with 6%; Epson Corp’s Equity 1 was third with 5%, but in dollar terms, Compaq Computer’s Deskpro 386 was top with 13% of dollar volume, the Mac SE was second with 8%, and the Mac II close behind with 7%; in terms of all models from one firm, Apple was top in unit sales with 19%, IBM had 14%, Compaq 12%, and the next five in order were Epson, AST, Hyundai, Kaypro, and NEC.
