Apple Computer Inc has not given up on its Newton MessagePad, and this week is expected to launch the MessagePad 120 in the US – it was launched in Europe last September; a new 2.0 release of the Newton operating system and a MessagePad with a keyboard are expected this spring. Apart from speed and support for the keyboard, features of the new operating system are expected to include better handwriting recognition, a file system and the capability to turn the MessagePad into a peripheral for the Macintosh. In the US, the 120 is expected to cost $600 with 1Mb memory, and $700 with 2Mb.
