Industry reports suggest that Apple Computer Corp is to sign up for a strategic relationship with 3Com Corp’s Palm Computing division. Apple is expected to use the company’s PalmOS operating system for a Mac palm computer, likely to be co-branded. Apple has indicated that it has been working on a portable device aimed at consumers, and a wireless interconnect – which Palm already offers – has been cited as one of the key features. Both Apple and Microsoft Corp are said to have attempted to buy the Palm division from 3Com over the last year.
