APPLE PROMISES THAT MACS WILL RUN NEW GENERATION SOFTWARE

Apple Computer Inc Macintoshes bought today will be able to run the new generation of software the company is developing from the OpenStep foundation from its NeXT Software Inc acquisition, Ellen Hancock promised, assuring customers that their investment in Apple’s computers will not be obsolete when the new operating system comes out. There will be new releases of System 7 later this month and in early summer, she said, adding that 1997 will be the biggest year ever in releasing system software; we do see System 7 enhanced and supported for the next several years, adding: We do have a dual operating system strategy.
