QuickTime movies soon will be seen – and even created – on a lot more screens, MacWeek reports. Apple Computer Inc plans to announce a Windows version of its multimedia system software extension on November 9 according to sources contacted by the paper. They say that the company will first provide playback technology for licence by Windows developers but will eventually offer full QuickTime functionality, including authoring and editing capabilities. QuickTime for Windows will mirror the Mac version in several key ways, according to Mike Holm, Apple manager of cross-system technologies, so the same movie file format will run on both Macs and Windows machines.
