Apple Computer Inc is negotiating with NEC Corp for thin film transistor colour displays, the Japanese company confirmed: up to now, Apple has got all its panels from Sharp Corp, but one report says that NEC will supply Apple with 5,000 9.4 VGA panels per month from October under a contract worth $35m; they are to be used in notebooks to be launched in the US early next year.
