Apple Computer Japan Inc has made it into the Japanese educational market with a $20m contract to supply Japan’s National Federation of University Co-operative Associations with Macintosh personal computers for sale to students and staff through the federation’s 270 member outlets on university campuses throughout Japan on an exclusive basis. Under the agreement, Apple will supply KanjiTalk versions of the Macintosh SE personal computer configured with 2Mb RAM and a 20Mb disk. The renewable agreement is initially for one year, in which shipments of 10,000 machines are expected.
