Apple Computer Inc has now launched its digital colour camera originally expected in January, calling it the QuickTake 100. It says the camera that makes it easy for users to bring photographic images into their Mac or Windows personal computer without film development or scanning. The portable device weighs about 1 lb with batteries, is aimed at mainstream business, education and design markets, and will work with both desktop and portable models of Macintosh and Windows computers. It includes the basic set of functions such as automatic exposure, a built-in flash and focus-free operation. It costs $750 and the Macintosh version is expected to ship worldwide in late March, with the Windows version following in June. Apple also launched the Color StyleWriter Pro, a colour inkjet printer for the Mac. It costs $630 and is aimed at the small office and home office and offers print quality of 360 dots per inch. It includes 64 TrueType fonts and supports printer sharing and password protection using Colorshare software. Designed for use with any colour-capable Mac with 4Mb memory, hard disk and System 7 or later, it ships March.
