Apple Computer Inc says it has now received advanced orders for over 140,000 of its new iBooks. Steve Jobs, iCEO at Apple, said the company is working hard to ensure that we can meet that demand. The orders don’t include Japan, one of the strongest markets for portables in the world, where Apple hasn’t so far accepted any orders. The first iBooks are expected to ship in mid-September. The AirPort base stations for wireless networking, available as an option for the iBook, should ship in October.
