APPLE GIVES A FEW DETAILS OF ITS RADICAL RESTRUCTURING

Apple Computer Inc announced a part of the current radical shake- up yesterday, saying it is consolidating its product development, marketing, sales, support and operations efforts into a new Worldwide Sales & Support Organization to oversee selling and providing services to its education, business and consumer customers; it will be divided geographically. The North America Business Division will focus on three markets: Publishing- EntertainmentNew Media, Enterprise, and Scientific- EngineeringDesign), including NeXT Sales and Professional Services. The North America Education Division will focus on two markets, K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade) and Higher Education. North America Consumer Division will focus on Consumer and the Macintosh Installed Base. EMEA, Europe, Middle East, Africa will drive its region’s sales and support. Japan will cover the same responsibilities for the Japanese market, as will Asia-Pacific and Latin America. AppleAssist Division remains responsible for Apple’s Customer Service and Warranty activities and Claris will continue to sell the Claris and Apple Software products worldwide.
