Apple Computer Inc has established a Newton Industry Association for companies committed to promoting its Newton MessagePad. Participants include Alcatel NV, BellSouth Corp’s BellSouth MobileCom, British Telecommunications Plc, Deutsche Bundespost Telecom, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd, Motorola Inc, Sharp Corp, Siemens AG and Toshiba Corp. Apple is also working with Telia AB, the Swedish state phone company, on Newton products for mobile users in Sweden.
