Apple Computer Inc has moved the PowerPC 601 RISC down into a home computer for the first time with launch of a new Macintosh Performa 6100 series, which includes the 6110CD, 6112CD, 6115CD, 6117CD and 6118CD, priced at between $2,600 and $2,850 – high for a home computer. They come with 60MHz PowerPC 601, 8Mb of RAM, aminimum 250Mb hard drive and and include Apple’s internal double-speed, tray-loading CD-ROM drive, the Apple Multiple Scan 15 Display with built-in stereo speakers, an external facsimile modem, Apple Design Keyboard, Macintosh System 7.5, and bundled software.
