Apple Computer Espana SA, which closed its financial year at the end of September with sales for the year of $36.7m, has doubled its turnover in just two years, according to the Spanish company’s managing director, Pedro Riera. He expects that sales for the full calendar year will be around the $43m mark. Riera also estimates that sales in 1990 will rise by 60%, possibly 80%, given the state of market demand. Apple recently reduced its prices by an average of about 16%, and has announced a new distribution policy that it says will keep Apple micros out of the current price war. Riera claims that the move reflects market trends, and he denies that it is a defensive one, since Apple’s prices are already in line with the rest of the market.
