Forget tired old John Glenn and the less than scintillating Neil Armstrong, if there’s one truly charismatic individual to have come out of the US space programme, it’s astronaut Sally Ride, and the news that shareholders of Apple Computer Inc have elected Ms Ride to the company’s board shows that despite its size, the Cupertinoer has lost none of its early off-beat flair.
