APPLE DEFIES HACKERS TO VIOLATE ITS WEBSITE

Apple Computer Inc is offering hackers a challenge to break into its Web site, and is offering a top of the range PowerBook to the first person that succeeds. Microsoft Corp is unlikely to follow suit, as its own website was briefly shut down by a hacker for ten minutes last Thursday, using a so-called disruptive URL.
