The company’s new Mighty Mouse features a 360-degree scroll wheel and is programmable to recognize clicks from either the right or left side. Priced at $49, it also can be used as just a single-button mouse.

While nothing new for the industry (multi-button mice have been the standard on Windows PCs for years), Apple has previously only offered single-button mice.

But its new mouse features side buttons that can be programmed for single-click access to features of its newest Tiger operating system, such as Dashboard and Spotlight.

Unlike any other mouse on the market, Mighty Mouse was designed specifically to work with Mac OS X Tiger, Apple said on its Web site.

Currently, the mouse is available only as an add-on.
