Apple Computer Inc now have new versions of its MPW Pro products and ETO Essentials Tools Objects development software and have also slashed prices. MPW Pro now costs $200 as opposed to $300. The ETO line, which includes MPW Pro, Symantec C++ for Power Macintosh and Inside Macintosh is down to $600 from $800. For PowerPC-based developers, the most interesting releases appear to be MrC/MrCpp 1.0 and new optimized C and C++ compilers for Power Macs. Apple is claiming considerably faster run-time performance compared with other popular compilers.
