APPLE CUTS PERFORMA PRICES

Apple Computer Inc has cut prices to resellers on its Macintosh Performa desktop computers – to be discontinued – and PowerBook 1400 series. The reductions cut Performa prices by up to $200 and those for the PowerBook 1400 series by up to 30%. The Performa 6400/180 will be $1,400, down from $1,600, the Performa 6400/200 will be $1,600, down from $1,800. The new price for the PowerBook 1400cs/117, with 12Mb RAM and no CD-ROM drive, falls to $1,700 from $2,000 previously; according to MacWeek, the company also adds two new Mac OS servers at this week’s Seybold Seminars conference in New York. Shipping next month, the Workgroup Server 7350/180 will include a 180MHz PowerPC 604e processor, 48Mb memory with 4Gb disk three PCI slots, at $2,900 to $3,600. The Workgroup Server 9650/233 uses a a 233MHz CPU with 64Mm memory and one or two 4Gb drives, at from $5,800 to $6,900.
