Underlining that it may stand somewhat aloof, but is not immune to the price war, Apple Computer Inc yesterday cut US prices on its Macintosh personal computers and peripherals by between 11% and 36%. It says the cuts include the Quadras as well as most Macintosh models. The company cut prices by 11% on the Quadra 950 to $8,170, and at the other end of the scale, the Macintosh Classic II was cut by 36% to $1,080. The cuts also affect the Macintosh LC II, Macintosh IIsi, Macintosh IIci and Quadra 700, and the company characterises the move as an effort to increase its market share, which has risen over the past two years.
