APPLE CONFIRMS IT WILL NOT SPIN OFF NEWTON

By CBR Staff Writer

Apple Computer Inc has confirmed it will not carry on with the planned spin off of its Newton Inc subsidiary (CI No 3,242) owing to the tremendous potential of its eMate 300 portable computer. Apple has said it will be examining the structure of Newton and has not ruled out that changes could be made. The move is thought to be down to Steve Jobs director and co-founder, despite moves to get rid of the division being well advanced.
