APPLE COMPLETES NEXT ACQUISITION

Apple Computer Inc has completed its acquisition of NeXT Software Inc, and now puts the price at at least $30m more than the $400m it had originally expected to pay, and writing off the purchased research and development will lead to a substantial loss for the current quarter. The company has already said it won’t return to profitability until the fiscal fourth quarter ending September, and it now indicates it will be still later.
