APPLE ANNOUNCES NEW WORKGROUP PRINTER

By CBR Staff Writer

Apple Computer Inc has announced a new workgroup printer and is claiming it is one of the fastest and most versatile models ever. The LaserWriter 8500 has been designed for use in general business, publishing and education environments and is based on Adobe Systems Inc’s PostScript 3 (CI No 3,153). Apple says it is its first printer to support full-bleed printing on up to A3 sized paper. Users can expand the paper capacity and functionality by attaching Apple’s LaserWriter 8500 Plus Upgrade Kit. It is expected to be available in the US by early next month and will sell for around $2,500 and the extension kit for around $600.
