Apple Computer Inc has announced its 32-Bit QuickDraw extensions for Colour QuickDraw, enabling Mac programs to generate more colourful and photo-realistic images on the screen: 32-Bit QuickDraw runs on all 68020 and 68030-based Macintosh computers the SE/30, II, IIx, and IIcx – supports display of up to 16m colours simultaneously, against 256 colours for the 8-bit version; it is also claimed to make possible natural, photographic quality colour on the Mac, so that colour scanned images will appear virtually unchanged on the screen, and it needs 2Mb of RAM; no prices given.
