Apple Computer Inc has topped and tailed its notebook line with the colour active matrix Powerbook 180c for $4,160 – UKP2,700 and new $1,650 – UKP1,000 – entry level Powerbook 145B, which reduces the entry price to the line by 25%: both use a Motorola Inc 68030 CPU, have extended screen resolution but battery life is a meagre one to two hours; the company also launched PowerBook File Assistant, software designed to help people using both a desktop and a notebook computer keep information on both machines synchronised; the $80 program also includes tools designed to address issues such as battery-life management, deferred printing and automatic server remounting, the firm said.
