Apple Computer Inc has boosted the power of its G3 computers with PowerPC processors running at up to 450MHz. The new systems, which also come in 350MHz and 400MHz versions, support the latest Mac OS 8.6 version of the Macintosh operating system. The faster chip results in a 23% performance boost, claims Apple. Pricing remains the same. The company is expected to release its new consumer portable, codenamed P1 and likely to be called the iBook, in the near future.
