Apple is reportedly in talks with Beats Electronics to forge a partnership with Beats’ planned new music-streaming service.
Apple CEO Tim Cook held talks with Beats CEO Jimmy Iovine to know about the audio technology firm’s ‘Project Daisy,’ which is a music subscription service first revealed in January 2013.
According to Reuters, Cook said to have expressed interest in Daisy’s business model and its launch plans.
Apple’s move comes after its plans to establish a music-streaming service to complement iTunes.
Beats had received $60m in funding for its Project Daisy from an investor group led by Warner Music owner, Len Blavatnik, which will assist in launching the music service in late 2013.
Blavatnik said in a statement: "Beats has the vision, the brand, the management team and now the investor group to effectively change the expectations and experience of a music subscription service."
In September 2012, Apple had been reportedly in talks with record firms to license music for a custom music service that would develop virtual music stations based on songs or artists of choice.
