The iPhone maker Apple has filed a new patent lawsuit at the US District Court, Northern District of California against Samsung Electronics, requesting to add four more Samsung devices to patent-infringing product list in an amended patent infringement complaint.
Apple’s new patent lawsuit includes ban on Samsung’s Galaxy S III, Verizon Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Player 4.0 and Galaxy Player 5.0 media players and Galaxy Note 10.1, which were launched in August 2011 and continuing through August 2012.
The new filing follows Apple’s wining of more than $1bn in damages from Samsung after a San Jose court last month ruled that Samsung had infringed the main features of Apple’s iPhone and iPad.
Earlier the iPhone maker’s list included 17 Samsung products as patent violators, however the new filing lists 21.
Apple has also filed a separate case against Samsung’s Galaxy S III and other smartphones claiming that system and the methods involved for performing an action on a structure in computer-generated data were similar to its smartphone feature.
The iPhone maker has also claims also include the infringement of universal interface for retrieval of data in a computer system; unlocking a device through gestures; the auto-correct feature; and the missed telephone call management feature.
The final date for Apple’s injunction request against Samsung’s devices has been set for 06 December 2012.
Last week, the Tokyo District Court in Japan has ruled that Samsung Electronics has not infringed Apple’s patent, rejecting similar patent-infringement claims by Apple which it won in the US.
Meanwhile in Japan, Apple lost a claim against Samsung, where it alleged similar infringements, providing a welcome relief for Samsung.
