Sunnyvale, California-based Appian Technology Inc has launched its A90 Notebook Controller module: the A90 combines Appian’s System 90/SX local bus chip set and the P94 Power Management controller into a single, multi-chip module; the local-bus architecture is said to remove historically slow address and data path bottlenecks, while the power management circuitry uses the A90 for laptop and notebook configurations by controlling the power to circuits and peripherals during operation; the A90 controller is available in a 262-pin plastic pin grid array of a 256-pin quad pack at $95 when you buy 100 or more.
