Apertus Technolologies Inc has now begun to trade under its new name, Carelton Corp, and has a new Nasdaq ticker symbol, CARL. Apertus Technology Inc acquired privately-held data extraction company Carelton Corp last October (CI No 3,277) in an effort to veer away from its original business in IBM middleware towards the data warehousing market. At the same time the Eden Prarie, Minnesota-based company sold its internet-to-mainframe connectivity software division off to Computer Network Technology Corp for $11.4m. Apertus has not seen a profit since 1995. Carleton’s ex chief executive, Paul Fluckiger resigned earlier this year (CI No 3,277). The company will now concentrate on selling its Passport database extraction tool for IBM MVS AS/400s, NT and Unix, and the Enterprise/Navigator data transformation tool for Unix and NT.
