Representatives from APEC member governments in the Asia Pacific region were meeting yesterday in Brunei for the 17th Telecommunications Working Group meeting. The four-day gathering will focus its attention on promoting electronic commerce in the region. Some issues under discussion will be: preparations for the third APEC Ministerial Meeting, scheduled for Singapore in June; telecom related issues such as the promotion of electronic commerce in the region; drafting a model Mutual Recognition Agreement; the WTO Basic Telecom Agreement; and a proposal related to APEC International joint projects.
