APACHE FREEWARE EXTENDS LEAD

By CBR Staff Writer

The latest Netcraft electronic survey of Web servers, found at https://www.netcraft.com/ survey/, reveals that the freeware Apache Group Unix-based network server has further extended its lead, despite all the recent fuss made by Microsoft Corp and Netscape Communications Corp. Microsoft’s IIS server is in second place with a 9.41% share, behind Apache’s 42.79%, although the three separate Netscape products, Communications, Commerce, and Enterprise, command a 12.14% share between them. The NCSA National Center for Supercomputer Applications Server, once in second place, is now third with an 8.95% share.
