America Online Inc and Inktomi Corp are expanding their alliance, with AOL announcing plans to use Inktomi’s search engine for its AOL.com and international web properties, as well as for CompuServe and ICQ. Inktomi will run on AOL sites in the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and Australia. The companies hope to add advanced search features, including foreign language translation and image search, a la Altavista.
