Adelphia will add CMTS 1000’s to the headend of its existing Cornerstone data networks in New York, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Virginia. CMTS 1000 provides full spanning tree bridging functionality and offers up to eight channels upstream and one channel downstream.

This contract is yet another major endorsement to the technical advancements of Cornerstone products, said Mike Wearsch, President, Digital Systems, ANTEC Corp. We are providing Adelphia with now and future capabilities. With CMTS 1000, Adelphia will deploy high speed access today, he said. And now, they’ll have the capability to migrate to internet protocol (IP) telephony if they choose to offer that advanced service.

The Cornerstone products allow us to further our goal of aggressively rolling out high speed data service, while keeping our technology options open, said Dan Liberatore, Vice President of Engineering, Adelphia Communications. Much of the technology’s proven success stems from the HFC and end-to-end systems solutions background that ANTEC and Nortel bring to the Arris venture, he added.
