PointCast Inc is about to be acquired by Bill Gross’s idealab!, according to News.com. The aging push wunderkind has been seeking a new owner since its initial public offering was ignominiously cancelled mid last year. In early March 1999, chief executive officer Dave Dorman took the fall for the hapless company’s performance. Last time a buyer’s name was mentioned it was that of PointCast co-founder, Chris Hassett, who apparently still nurses a soft spot for his problem child. á
