According to the Anonymous associated twitter account, @AnonOps, there have been six arrests of suspected Anonymous members in Spain. Anonymous Iberoameria reports that this is part of an initiative by Spanish authorities to crack down on the hacking collective.
Spanish police have not confirmed or denied the six arrests, but have confirmed their technological investigation brigade is currently executing a large operation.
On Twitter Thursday tweets circulated among Anonymous associated accounts about the Spanish arrests and DDoS attack.
@AnonOps tweeted : "6 #Anonymous were caught by the police in spain. They’re talking about a big anti-hack operation" We know. Expect us."

This attack is the second public attack by Anonymous against the Spanish National Police site. Last year, the collective executed a successful DDoS attack in retaliation to the arrests of three individuals suspected of cyber-attacks on corporate and government sites in association with Anonymous.
