The number of AX manufacturers is rising and there were enough around last month to stage an AX Convention ’88: Oki Electric and Nippon Unisys have announced AX machines and Casio Computer and Yokogawa Hewlett-Packard are expected to announce their entries this month; YE Data is said to have one ready to go, there will be one from NCR in a month or two, and companies from Taiwan and South Korea are expected to enter the market this year, making life much tougher for market leader NEC Corp with its 9801 micro family.
