Following the 47m pound sale of its network services division to Cable & Wireless Communications Plc (CI No 3,313), Anite Group Plc has unveiled plans to expand into Europe and has identified its core business sectors. The Watford, UK company that used to be known as Cray Communications (CI No 2,993) is intending to expand its operations via acquisitions, particularly of companies in Europe. Anite has identified seven areas which it will aim to concentrate its business in; telecommunications, public sector, media and leisure, finance, information technology contract resourcing, new technology, as well as consultancy as a result of a German company called GMO, which Anite has recently acquired. According to Anite chief executive John Hawkins, the company will focus its attention on systems integration and services and software. Just before Christmas, Anite reported net losses of 730,000 pounds, down from losses of 64.9m on revenue that fell 23.7% to 78.9m (CI No 3,313).
