Anite Group Plc, the Berkshire UK-based software and services business, has bought two software companies in the fields of tourism and local government finance to strengthen its existing operations.

It is paying up to 3.2m pounds ($5.1m) for Opentur SRL, a leading supplier of reservation software to tour operators in Italy. Opentur’s profits before tax in the last financial year were 300,000 pounds ($486,000) on sales of 1.2m pounds ($1.9m). This acquisition extends the activities of Anite’s travel subsidiary to Continental Europe, as well as further developing its e-commerce activities. Opentur operates a tourism portal and takes commission on each transaction and this business model is likely to be imported into the UK. The acquisition also opens the way to pushing further products to OpenturÆs customers.

Anite is also paying 1.2m pounds ($1.9m) for the ORBIS local government finance software business, which it has acquired from Business Computer Technology Ltd. This will enable it to offer financial applications as well as its existing workflow offering to local government clients. Further acquisitions are likely as Anite looks to fill in gaps in its product range.
