Orland Park, Illinois-Andrew Corp is shipping the InterLynx/400Plus, a multiprocessor gateway device that enables up to seven ASCII devices to access one IBM Corp AS/400 or System/3X twin-axial port. The InterLynx/400Plus has dual processor architecture, one for twin-axial, one for async communications, which enables higher throughput and faster screen paints, says the company. The InterLynx/400 Plus handles up to 57.6Kbps on asynchronous ports, resulting in high performance and lower phone line charges, says Andrew. It also supports all features and functions of its predecessor, the InterLynx/400. Andrew says the InterLynx/400 has flexible ports for easy conversion between parallel and serial; self-terminating twin-axial connection; and auto data terminal-data control equipment sensing and strapping. Andrew says it is field-expandable with slide-in asynchronous port expansion board and can take firmware upgrades from the rear panel. It is priced at $2,645 for the four-port unit and $3,145 for the fully populated eight-port unit. Expansion boards for converting four-port to eight-port cost $600.
