Andersen Consulting appears to be the latest victim of the anticipated slowdown in demand for IT services in the run up to 2000. The IT consultancy and systems integrator has reported revenue up 19% at $9bn for the year to August 31, 1999, some way behind the 25% growth it has experienced in the previous three years. Rubbing salt into Andersen Consulting’s wounds the rival consulting business set up by fellow Andersen Worldwide unit Arthur Andersen grew 36% in the same period to $1.4bn. Arthur Andersen has been accused of using the Andersen name to take IT-based business from Andersen Consulting. A decision on whether Andersen Consulting can separate from Arthur Andersen is expected in the new year (CI No 3,713).
