An undercapitalised Xcelerated Systems Inc has been acquired by Andataco Inc, San Diego, which is said to be the largest reseller of Liken, its Mac-on-Unix emulator (CI No 2,261). The acquisition, which Andataco says it paid the least possible amount for, may create channel conflict for other Liken resellers unwilling to do business with Andataco. Andataco recently lost its Sun Microsystems Inc authorisation and is now selling Hewlett-Packard and Axil Workstations Inc machines. Most of Xcelerated’s 23 staff have gone over to Andataco with Xcelerated founder Dave MacMillan now functioning as Andataco’s software manager. He is responsible for Liken, which he claims will benefit from Andataco’s superior financial resources, as well as its other software products, facsimile and SCSI disk array manager. Xcelerated president Ray Wagstaff is now Andataco’s chief financial officer.
