And yet another potential contender in the telecommunications field has emerged in the shape of National Transcommunication Ltd, the former engineering division of the Independent Broadcasting Authority, which is to be auctioned by Price Waterhouse & Co on behalf of the UK Home Office in April: the company has an exclusive four-year contract to carry all the transmissions of the ITV companies and Channel 4 but its existing towers would also be of interest to anyone wanting to build a microwave telecommunications network; the reserved price is UKP100m, and the only restriction on owership is that British Telecommunications Plc and ITV contractors are limited to no more than 20%.
