IBM has also moved to strengthen its hand in the Ada market by taking an equity interest in Rational Inc, also in the form of an undisclosed amount of new voting convertible preferred stock.Rational offers computer-aided software engineering products and technology for the design, building and maintenance of complex applications written in Ada. The Santa Clara company’s products run on its proprietary system and, with IBM Ada compilers, produce applications that run on System/370 mainframes and the RT.
