Intel Corp is sufficiently impressed with Acer Inc’s ChipUp system for plugging a daughterboard into an 80386 socket to enable a personal computer to be upgraded with an 80486 chip that it has bought a royalty-bearing licence from the Taiwanese company. The agreement also allows Intel to sub-license ChipUp technology to othercomputer makers, but terms were not given.
